GR20: how many days ?

There are just as many ways to complete the GR20 trail as there are hikers. In 16, 13, 7 or even 3 days... Each hiker has his/her own challenge. But how to choose the itinerary? Going from North to South or the other way around? Alpine variant or not ? Here are some information to help you make your choice between our tours.

GR20 South or North ?

In Corsica we usually say that there are no easy hikes. The GR20 South may be the less difficult part of the trail, but it does not mean it is easy either! It remains a sporty itinerary, on a rocky and very steep terrain. Let say that the southern part could be a good start if you are not sure of your ability to complete the trail.

Hikers often ask us which part is the most beautiful: well, it is hard to say as it is very subjective. I would tell you that the Northern part is more mineral and craggy, maybe more impressive with the passage at the "Pointe des Eboulis" and the climb to the highest summit of the island, the Monte Cinto.

But not to be outdone, the Southern part has more varied and soothing landscapes: lakes, forests, pozzines, plateau du Cuscione, the Bavella Needles... There is something for every taste! Stages are a little bit longer than on the north, but the terrain is less steep and uneven.

GR20 North: 6, 7 or 9 days

GR20: how many days ?

  • GR20 North in 6 days: from Tattone to Bonifatu
We removed the first and two last stages of the original itinerary, for hikers that have less than a week on leave to enjoy their GR20, or that do not feel up to walking 9 days in a row.
We welcome you on Sunday morning in Ajaccio and transfer you to Tattone, where you begin your hike. You will end in Bonifatu on Friday afternoon, from where we transfer you to Calvi.

  • GR20 North in 7 days: from Vizzavona to Bonifatu
You will begin in Vizzavona, the historical border between the south and the north of the trail.
We welcome you on Saturday morning in Ajaccio, and transfer you to Vizzavona to begin your hike. As the 6-day version, you will end in Bonifatu on Friday afternoon, from where we transfer you to Calvi.

  • GR20 North in 9 days: from Vizzavona to Calenzana
This is the historical route of the GR20. As most of our clients end in Bonifatu, the two last stages of this tour are self-guided, meaning that you will walk without the guide for your last two days on the trail. We take care of all the logistics (booking of the accommodations, transfer of your luggage, etc.) and give you a complete roadbook with maps and detailed descriptions of the stages.
We welcome you on Saturday morning in Ajaccio, and transfer you to Vizzavona to begin your hike. You will end on Sunday afternoon (day 9) in Calenzana, from where we transfer you to Calvi.
