Program of your self-guided hike in Corsica

Day 1: Corte - Tavignanu Gorge
Meeting in the morning in front of the train station in Ajaccio. Transfer to Corte by train. Hike along the Tavignanu (possible to bath during summer) and visit the historical capital of Corsica. Night in Corte or Calacuccia.

Day 2: Calacuccia - Vergio
Transfer to Calacuccia in the morning.  Following the shores of the lake for brief moment, the path rapidly leaves the last houses to go up to the Vergio pass (1477m), the other gate of the Niolu valley. You will enjoy the view over the highest peaks of the island during your day. Night in Castel di Vergio.

Day 3: Ninu lake - Radule waterfalls
You have the choice between two hikes on the GR20 today:
- In the north: at the heart of the volcanic massif of Paglia Orba, you go up to the Golu source and enter high mountain landscapes. Stop to the sheepfolds and bath in the Radule waterfalls.
- In the south: you will discover Ninu Lake. Free horses spend the summer on the large lawn that surrounds the lake.
Night in Castel di Vergio.

Day 4: River pools of Aïtone
After you have reached the Vergio pass, you will leave the high mountains and start your long journey down towards the sea in the shadows of beeches and pines. Stop at the famous river pools of Aïtone and continue through the chestnut grove to the village of Evisa. Night in Evisa.

Day 5: The Speluca Gorge and Porto
The trail you take this morning overlooks the sea and provides breathtaking views on the Gulf of Porto. There are only three colors: the red rocks, the blue sea and the green maquis. After a last steep slope you arrive at the beach of Porto, the final point of your journey.
Night in Porto.

Day 6: Porto - Ajaccio
Possible visit of the Nature Reserve of Scandola, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in summer, with a stop at the small fishing village of Girolata, inaccessible by road. Return to Ajaccio in the morning or in the afternoon.
